AEM told me "if you unplug the sensor and the gauge reads 14.7, the gauge is fine, and you should call SCT". This takes time and patience. The stuff I just recounted to you all took me about 2 hours once I figured out how the heck I was going to try to solve the problem (which took me about 2 weeks).

After several calls to AEM and some troubleshooting it turns out the AEM 30-4110 gauge is defective. It does not read in ambient air and will not read installed at idle. When tuning an engine, accurate air/fuel ratio data is critical because running with too rich of an AFR can cause a loss of power, and running a lean AFR can result in serious engine damage. AEM’s digital Wideband AFR UEGO gauge can quickly alert you to even a .1 change in air/fuel ratio and provide enough time to shut down an engine before damage occurs. Assuming that you have a wide band AFR gauge then no, the stock O2 sensor won't work. The stock sensors are only accurate withing a narrow range of center or 14.7 AFR. Your stock sensor may be accurate from 13.7-15.7 or something about like that. Around 12 they are useless. A wide band will be linear from it's low range to it's upper range. At this point I disconnected the wires from the AEM AFR gauge and measured the voltage with a multipmeter with the motor idling. It read about 2.3 V. The gauge itself read 12.5 for so. The two values seem correct. What doesn't seem correct is the value the ECU is reading. I tried hooking up the BROWN gauge wire to a chassis ground instead.

    Gave up on AEM After 1yr of struggling through intermittent faulty afr and boost readings. Boost pressure sensor immediately failed after purchase, replaced gauge and sensor with analog. AFR readings intermittent at best, problems persisted after replacing Bosch O2 Sensor. Replaced AEM with Dynojet PCV / POD300 problem solved! AEM= Waste of money.

That's my ad above for the AEM 'classic series gauge'. Still have it if anyone is interested. Here's how I installed the other one in my V70. The other gauge is a combined boost and oil pressure gauge. I also used a AEM no weld bung on the exhaust. Works really well I have to say! I smoke tested it, no leaks.
